Fig 1 & 2

Here we can set various Zones that will affect Jobs, Trips and ultimately Job pricing. There is a default Zone system that you can use or you can create a new Zone Set.

  1. Click on New button next to the Zone Set Textbox

  2. Enter a name for the new Zone Set, this will automatically take you to a blank Zone Set and a pop up box will ask if you wish to import default postcodes, selecting Yes will enter all the standard Postcode areas (This can be done at any time by clicking on the Import button), A No means that you will have to enter the postcode areas yourself

  3. Select a country for your Zone Set from the Country drop-down box

  4. Add any additional postcodes in the first column

  5. Add a description of the Zone in the second column

  6. Add a Zone Code to the Third Column (this is what you are calling the specific Zone in this Zone Set)

  7. Click the Save button to save your Zone Set

In Fig 1 above we can see part of a Zone Set that has been created for the Bristol Area based on postcode area zones (Fig 2). You could equally set your zones up to have larger zones to incorporate, for example, the whole of the southwest. The idea of Zone Sets is that you can adjust your zones to group together the postcode areas you wish to deliver to on a Trip.

The Pencil picture next to the Zone Set name is used to change the name of your Zone Set. To delete a postcode select it from the list and click on the red X above the table, then click Save.

Fig 3 & 4

Now when setting up a Matrix you can set it to use this Zone.

As you can see in Fig 3 we have set the Matrix name, Description, Type and Currency as we did in the Matrix Example. This time, however, we have based the Matrix on Zones using the DEFAULT Zone Set.

In the bottom of the Matrix Composer we have set the grid as shown in Fig 4. When a Job is priced using this Matrix any Job going from CEN to CEN will be charged at £30, any Job going from ZONE1 to CEN or from CEN to ZONE1 will be charged at £50 and any Job staying within ZONE1 area will be charged at £10.

We can also set the individual cells in this table to calculate using a Sub-Matrix, selecting the Sub-Matrix radio button will change the cell to a drop-down box listing all your current Matrices.

Update 6.6.

In this update the way that Journease checks the zone set has been changed, it is now possible to make your own zone sets based on exact postcodes as Journease will firstly check for an exact match before resorting to checking the area code part of the postcode.

For example you could now define a full postcode as part of your zone set which will copy accross to the matrix used allowing you to differentiate between BS16 3RY (Full Postcode) and BS16 (Area Code part of the postcode))
